Sonoma County has so many treasures. Last weekend my husband and I went out to the gorgeous Sonoma coastal destination, Bodega Bay. We stayed at The Lodge at Bodega Bay in a waterfront room with a cozy fireplace. The on-site restaurant, Drake's Sonoma Coast, has fabulous food and cocktails, focusing on local, sustainable ingredients. The staff at both the restaurant and inn are top-notch. They have a spa on the property, which includes unique luxury treatments like a warm shell massage and even a Cabernet grape sea scrub (which we are definitely going to try next time!).
Sunday we went for a little hike down to Mammoth Rock. Most locals, including myself prior to Sunday, don't know about this special spot. Seeing is believing! The rocks have actually been rubbed down to shiny obsidian thousands of years ago by Wooly Mammoths!! It is truly remarkable - and I have the photos to prove it!
It was such a gorgeous weekend on the coast. We even saw a dolphin which always fills my heart with joy. I highly recommend this must-see destination to anyone visiting Sonoma County! Just don't forget to stop by Patrick's of Bodega Bay (the darling pink candy-striped building) and pick up some amazing salt-water taffy for the ride home.
